One time in Amazon..... Fly away.. Crash...lessons learned......

And if there’s one thing I learned the hard way…

We had just landed a last minute gig in Peru..

Aaron my camera operator and I jumped on a plane, and headed South.

Our mission was to film "Tree house Lodge" in the Amazon Jungle of Peru.

At the end of a 2 day journey we floated down the amazon river and arrived a the Tree house hotel.

We spend the night getting setup our $15K setup.

The next day we got ready to fly, did our pre-flight checks and did a hover / maneuver test.

Things went well so we decided to climb 70ft up just above the tree line for a quick shot..

As soon as I got to the top Aaron started to pan the camera around. All was good!

I decided to bring it back down...

But  it would NOT respond....

No matter what i did, it just hovered in place...

#$%#$ It just hovered there and I couldn't do a dang thing about it...

I decided to hop the tree house fence and try and get under it to hopefully bring it down...

As I got near it I could hear it above the tree canopy I could hear it.. but the engine noise got softer and softer...

It flew away....

Aaron and I chased it into the Amazon Forest....

Lesson learned.. Have a backup plan for any kind of scenario..

and Bring backups for everything!

Luckily I did bring a back up transmitter and everything worked out!
